Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I run more than one
TempElert USB on a PC is I have multiple USB ports available?
A: No, the device does not have
multichannel capability. If you need multichannel monitoring, we have a
solution for that here
Q: Can I extend the distance
away from the PC that the USB sensor operates at?
A: Yes, we offer USB extension cables
with clips to do the job up to about 30 feet, as well as a CAT5/Cat6
Ethernet extender to get you 150 to 300 feet extension, depending on
cable quality. See the purchase page
for details.
Q: Can the sensor operate
submerged?
A: No, it is for free air
temperature only but, we have a solution for that
here
Q: Do you have Android, Mac, or Linux
Versions available?
A: Not at this time.
Q: Are the email messages
configurable to say what I want?
A: Yes, the email setup screen allows
you to embed any text message you wish, the data from the sensor with an
over/under condition will automatically be inserted for you along with
your custom message.
Q: I don't have an email server
at the location where I wish to monitor, how do I get around that?
A: There is a small built in SMTP
email server in the TempElertUSB program which you can enable. As long
as your internet service will pass SMTP on port 25 it will work for you.
You can also use most any free email service such as AOL, Google Gmail,
and Yahoo Mail to send alerts to your email, pager, or cellphone.
Instructions are provided to help you.
Q: I want to operate this
program at my remote location that only has dial-up internet access,
will it work with that?
A: Yes, if you set your PC for "dialup
on demand", TempElertUSB will activate that feature, and initiate a
telephone call to your ISP for you, and will send the message when a
connection is established.
Q: Do you have a list of how to
send messages to my mobile phone?
A: Yes, in our
TempElertUSB Operation Manual
(PDF1.5MB)
in Appendix B we have a large up to date list of mobile
providers and the messaging addresses they use.
